In 2022, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) started to support a new drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) program in Poland. We also assisted migrants and refugees stranded at the border with Belarus.
In February, in response to the escalation of the war in Ukraine, we opened a logistics center in Poland, through which we supply our medical humanitarian operations in Ukraine, and organize transit for our teams entering and leaving the war-struck country.
Since July, we have been supporting a pilot DR-TB treatment program in Warsaw run by the Ministry of Health, coordinated by the Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases, and supported by the World Health Organization (WHO). The program is designed to provide a new outpatient model of care for DR-TB in Poland. In addition, we donated essential medicines to enable health facilities to implement the latest WHO treatment recommendations.
